Belmont Moving and Storage

My husband and I just relocated to Washington from Wisconsin for work, and thinking that a moving company would be worth the expense to move our belongings in the safest and least stressful way, we settled on Belmont Moving and Storage to help us after exploring other movers and other solutions such as renting a U-Haul and moving our belongings ourselves. Unfortunately for us, the representatives we spoke to for both the initial and final estimates were so far off from what we ultimately ended up paying that we would have honestly been better off selling all of our things and starting over after arriving in Washington.

A very long story short, our initial and final estimates provided by Belmont was so far off from what we ended up having to pay despite telling both representatives we spoke with that we had a 2 bedroom apartment and previously used a 16 foot U-Haul to move, which is around 800 cubic feet and providing dimensions for all our belongings in the final estimate, we were only quoted 386 cubic feet and reassured numerous times it would be sufficient. Our final inventory quoted us $960 more than the initial estimate. Again, we were reassured the final estimated cubic feet would work for our belongings when we reiterated we were on a budget and could not afford any other surprises on moving day. On moving day, the drivers told us our belongs would be 800 cubic feet. Shocking! We were then quoted another $1650! Ultimately, Belmont told us there was nothing they could do and we were on our own to figure it out. Ultimately we paid $2600 more than the initial estimate and all Belmont had to say was that they simply provide an "estimate."

Our estimate was far from accurate, our items arrived a week after we were told they would (the movers had our belongings for almost a month!), our belongings arrived in crushed boxes, broken, scratched and gouged, and our bed was mangled with none of the cellophane that it was wrapped in when they loaded it on the truck. It literally looked like the movers tossed our belongings around.

Belmont was the worst at communication, and we feel that we were completely scammed. It was such an awful experience that we'll be following up with the Better Business Bureau.

This company contracts out to Western Van Lines and they were SO UNPROFFESIONAL! They charged me $2500 more than the quote, threatened to put my things in storage if I didn't pay, broke my TV and shattered the hall light in my apartment, lost several boxes and deleivered some items to me that were not mine ( and told me to throw them away- this was somebody elses stuff!!!) and then left without reassembling my furniture like I paid for! When I complained they made me go through a complaints department and from April 30thuntil now I got no answer but they finally offered me a settlement of $75! Are you kidding me? WHAT A JOKE!!!! If I could put pictures of the broken items I would. I am so disgusted.

0 STARS!!! If I could use a time machine to go back in time and NOT hire this company I would. First off, I was never told my things would take about 2 weeks to arrive, but by the point they told me that, I was only days out from moving, so I just thought it would be fine. It ended up taking them about 6-7 weeks to deliver my things.Throughout these weeks, anytime I would call and ask for an update, NO ONE would give me a direct answer. I honestly thought about filing a police report because all of my stuff was just gone. After I finally got my stuff, I noticed multiple pieces of furniture were chipped, desk chair wheel had been broken and my mattress was covered in dirt. But I was so damn tired of dealing with this absolute hell of a company, I just decided to get over it and move on from this experience. Today, I go to turn on my $500 recently purchased TV (which they charged me an extra $100 to box up) and it is broken. It’s clear something smashed the screen. So I paid an extra $100 for them to “protect” my TV only for them to ruin it. I am so furious I spent almost $3000 for them to break my belongings and generally just not give a crap about me as a customer through this entire process. Please save yourself the trouble and loss of money. DO NOT USE.

By far the worst experience I’ve ever had with a moving company. I was completely conned by a gentleman named nick rose. Nick not only lied abt giving a realistic sq footage, but also abt time of delivery and claiming to “always answer his cell phone.” The inventory had been verified 3 different times prior to movers showing up, guess what…when the movers showed up, they said I needed almost twice the sq footage. I refused to be bullied into paying almost double the price and Belmont moving refuses to refund my deposit due to their incompetence of their employee “nick rose .” This company is completely unreptable and I pity anyone using them, my advice would be to run. After reviewing the initial deposit contract closer I also realized nick had done even better than I originally thought by telling me that deposit has to be paid by ACH, although the contract states credit card, cashiers check, amongst other options. The reasoning for this is so that they can steal your money being that the charges aren’t “disputable” because you paid by ACH. I assume they run business like this consistently and people just give up and take the loss, but not this guy, they’ll be hearing from me in small claims court.

I moved from Washington State(5.20.22) to Arizona and I realize that is a big move BUT it was the worst service EVER. They were 2 weeks late. Didn't bother to call and tell me the truck broke down. When they finally arrived, half of my boxes were smashed, glasses were broken and they lost my dad's ashes. When I called Waylon( which was about 3 times) he NEVER called me back, I also emailed him twice and never responded. All I was told was to "Fill out a claim". THAT IS NOT SOMETHING THAT CAN BE REPLACED. I even emailed the OWNER and he never replied.

I finally got in contact with someone who told me my missing boxes are in Texas.

I am working with the woman who has them on getting them back to me.

The company has do nothing. Stay as far away from this company as you can!!!!!!

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $5500

Do NOT EVEN CONSIDER THIS COMPANY. MY MOVE WAS from Boston to Louisville and as soon as they arrived they did the old bait and switch on me as soon as they entered the door stating I had 3 times more stuff than quoted and it was a 650 sq ft apt. That is the minimum by law! Anyway so they charged well over twice what I was quoted plus they broke and tore things up so badly. In my 63 years I have never been so dissatisfied with a company such as Belmont. I hope the employees all go to jail for robbery. They ARE THEIVES! They won’t return your calls nor make good on anything. THE WORST MOVING COMPANY ONE CAN IMAGINE!

I will never work with a broker again and Belmont is the reason why. At first, they seemed great. The first person I contacted to set up my binding contract for the move was terrific in explaining everything. Everything went downhill from there, however. The QA person who spoke with me the week of my move was calling the wrong number. The movers they brokered with, Gin & Lou, were late arriving because they were calling a different wrong number. They charged me more upon arrival, despite the contract. They quoted me 6-21 days after picking up my things, which was not what Belmont told me. In fact, they were a month late in delivering. They picked up my things in Colorado on 5/27/2022 and I never received them until 7/1/2022 - and this only after I had contacted the Better Business Bureau and a lawyer. No one from Belmont ever took my calls once my things were picked up, and Gin & Lou never returned them either. Horrible service. I will say, the actual laborers were great. All of my stuff arrived, and none of it was broken. Two terrible companies, however. I have definitely learned my lesson, the hard way.

Waylon I trusted you. I assured my wife that you were legit. You assured me my belongings would not be left on the curb. Guess what? THEY WERE. A Samsung refrigerator, Samsung washer dryer set, two high dollar televisions that they just forgot about them but charged me the cost to pack them, desk, large wine barrels, and the list goes on. To replace or repair the stuff that was broken or just not delivered…. Over $9400. What they offer as fair compensation is a little over $350. So the move cost $16000.00 plus $9000.00 in replacement cost totaling $25000.00. You may be able to afford this but I can’t. I’m sure you have been threatened with court so I won’t do that. I will place negative feedback every month until I feel satisfied. I will do my best to deflect all of your companies business.

They claimed our property would be stored in one of their “affiliate storage facilities” that they have all throughout the US, so that when we were settled, we could have it delivered within days. This is a LIE. They have no such storage. We would have arrived at our destination only to discover that our stuff was in the third party contracted trucking company’s storage…1500 miles away from us!! After refusing to let them drive off with our stuff to God knows where, they are now refusing to return our $1500 deposit. I can only guess at the misery had we allowed them to go ahead and move our stuff to NJ….I imagine they would have held it ransom for more money! They do. OT have a fleet of trucks or movers…they contract this out as to dodge responsibility. They have been sued in court in FL and lost! RED FLAG! They should be put out of business.

DO NOT USE Belmont Moving and Storage. They are not a real Moving company. THEY ARE ONLY A MOVING BROKER. They have no idea how many items you have and do not have any agreement with a Moving company until they whore it out to the cheapest. The cheapest uses a U HAUL not a Moving Van. Don't know how Brian at Belmont can sleep at night. He assured me that the move would go smooth for my 84 year old mother and disabled sister. It's been 2 weeks and everything they own has not been delivered. Once Belmont gers your money they do not answer your calls. It is costing my 84 year mother 3K more than Brian quoted. Belmont and Brian are nothing more than common criminals. If anyone has had a similar experience file a DOT complaint, call the FBI and the local police.

BUYER BEWARE! This is by and large the worst company I have ever worked with. We suspect they purchased the positive reviews on here because there is literally no way that they are either 5 or 1 star reviewed. The 1 stars are more than likely the correct reviews. I would give them NEGATIVE stars if we could.

1. We setup our move months in advance, and informed them that we had 3 apartments to move. (3/2, a 1/1, and an efficiency) We were quoted $6000 for what our rep said was 220 boxes (660 cubic feet) with furniture.

2. We never received a call from their company to get a detailed box list afterwards. Not to mention our rep (Tyler) was unavailable every time we called him and never returned voicemail we left or emails. We called them to confirm our item count and box list. The estimate jumped from $6000 to over $22,000!!! When they answered why, they blamed the rep Tyler saying that he had just started at the company and didn't know how to estimate. $6000 was the estimate for 660 cubic feet of space, boxes only, with no furniture.

3. After speaking with them and their acknowledgment of everything, they apologized and offered to reduce $1000 off the bill. Sorry, but no-one has $18k extra lying around for "just in case the movers price gouge." We had to look for another way.

4. End up getting a 2nd 26 ft Penske truck to offset the boxes/furniture that they would not take for us. All they took was our furniture and no boxes. Mind you, this left me and my family to bust our chops to load everything on our own, drive the 2nd truck up, and then unload - but that is another gripe on it's own.

5. When the movers came, I learned that they are not even an actual moving company. THEY ARE BROKERS! (which they never disclose to you on the phone) This was absolutely evident because they didn't have their own trucks, they hired a 3rd party company to move our stuff. The movers came in a freaking UHAUL truck! Totally feel swindled, part 3 of our epic frustration.

6. When they were loading our stuff, they couldn't lift our couch and told us there was a "heavy item" fee ($75), which I said if they could lift it and had no issues I was happy to pay. They could not lift it alone, and could not figure out how to move it out of our door (mind you, Rooms to Go brought it in with 2 guys with no damage to our property). I ended up having to help them get it out of the apartment and down the stairs. Afterwards, guess what happened? They still charged us the heavy item fee despite me having to lift it with them.

7. The second couch was a smaller loveseat. The kid tried to put it over the rails and wanted to drop it down to his partner. I absolutely advised them against this risky and ridiculous maneuver and told him that his partner would get injured if they did this. (his partner agreed)

8. Their first Uhaul broke down, then they had a second truck they rented. (added 2 full days to our move and they even asked if we could drive them to the uhaul company)

9. We waited almost 2 weeks for them and they finally delivered today. Mind you, we called in between and the company lied to us. We asked where the truck was, they said “We didn’t have enough items to ship directly via long distance shipping, so your items are in an air conditioned storage waiting for more people to move.” RIDICULOUS.

All of our pieces of furniture are damaged! Broken wood supports on buffet, broken lamp shades, chips of wood missing from everything, etc. I am absolutely pissed off to say the least! The insurance was a rip off in terms of the cost of it, and the cheap insurance they offer with the move only covers $0.60 per lb. We will definitely be making a claim to cover all of the damages, but nothing will cover the amount of emotional damage sustained during this entire experience. I never want to hear from this ridiculous company again.

TLDR: Unless you want prices jacked up at the last second, unprofessional service from start to finish, ridiculously extended delivery timeframes, and broken/damaged furniture all over - DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY WITH BELMONT.

Move size: Partial Move Service cost: $6200

This situation is one that I never expected myself to be in. I will list names to educate others & provide a realistic experience. I used Belmont Moving & Storage (Broker) to move my things from Michigan to Georgia. They used a bogus/scam 3rd party mover (Carrier), MTR Transportation. I have not seen my belongings since 7/24/22. It is 9/27/22. The situation as it stands today is Belmont (Deon from CS) informed me on September 19th that the Carrier, told them my items were missing and/or stolen & that I needed to file a police report. I have been asking for the situation in writing for 2 weeks & never received a full-report from them nor all the information they have on the Carrier. I want to be clear, this truck they loaded was my entire home; bedrooms, kitchen, bathrooms, all of my clothes, my daughters clothes. EVERYTHING is gone. Up until this point, I have called their customer service department asking for updates & all I was told was there has been a delay & they have no updates. I spoke to Molly & Bruce originally who have a "lacks' daisy/non-chalant" attitudes. Their CSR Dept (Colleen) said the carrier legally has up to 30 business-days to deliver the items & after 30 days, I am owed a "Per Diem" price ($25-30/day after the 30 days). None of this happened because now after doing my own research I found the owner of MTR Transportation & after speaking to him, he said he has no idea of what I or Belmont is speaking of. I proceeded to a 3-way call with both parties & left the conversation with more confusion that MTR had been a scam company. I have this conversation recorded. Now, my attorney has sent emails, I have sent emails, & called over 20x's & no one answers. All Belmont will say is they aren't liable & re-send the contract-That I should contact the carrier but since MTR was a bogus company there is no one to contact other than the legal authorities. They don't care to help customers at all. The owner (Sean) tried to send me a settlement of only $500 as if that could come to replacing an entire home. Their "legal & finance" person Sue - SILENT. Overall, please save yourself a headache - Don't use Belmont & their carries because they will leave you high and dry & NOT ANSWER the phones. They will also not contact you after anything bad happens. BAD EXPERIENCE! Legal Action will be taken. BELMONT - DO NOT respond to this comment with call us to discuss further because I have, DO NOT respond with a contract because I have it and so will all necessary parties. Thank you

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $2500

Live and learn. This is not a moving company and they merely skim about $1,000 off the moving costs, provide an unrealistic quote, and have no commitment to pickup and delivery dates as promised. They quoted a move for 8/30 with delivery on 8/31. They arrived at 1:00 in the morning on 9/1. The actual company charged 3 times the quote. They also stated the delivery would be up to 3 weeks after the prior date of 8/31. My issue isn’t with the men that actually facilitated the move but rather with Belmont for what appears to be highly dishonest business practices. Had I known the numerous changes awaiting me for the move, I would definitely have gone elsewhere. Don’t make this mistake with your move.

Move size: Partial Move Service cost: $6078

I give them 1 star because there isn't anything lower! Nick gave me a quote several months before moving in which we agreed upon. Then 3 days before the actual move when I had to be out of my house Billy called me and wanted to go over the inventory again, When he did this the price doubled and I had no time to shop for another mover and I would have lost the deposit I had already given them. After the move I tried to get in contact them and got nothing but the run around. They finally sent me to customer service and I was told I needed 2 trucks and my load was 2700 sq, feet and the movers packed our load in a truck that was 1900 sq. feet. I was told by Belmont that they were not responsible for how the movers packed the truck because Belmont would have used both trucks. So my question is how do you put a 2700 sq, foot load in a 1900 sq. foot truck the numbers don't add up! After talking to customer service they refused to give me a refund when they didn't use both trucks because Belmont would have used both trucks. I would never recommend this company unless you want to get ripped off!

Move size: 4 Bedroom Home Service cost: $19000

First they pulled the bait and switch bull s**t, then after telling me they do "everything" and the estimate includes everything, which was 100% untrue, I had to disassemble and pack all my own furniture, then they openly told me my belongings were going into a storage unit until they have enough business to fill a truck ( initially I had to give them a huge deposit within a few hours to save the last spot). Then they didn't dispatch my stuff until the day after my expected delivery date saying 5-6 days for delivery, 5 days later they told me they would be there that nite, then when they didn't show, they said they thought I was their 1st stop, but I was their 2nd stop so they won't show until the next day between 12-5! When no one showed at 5p I called and all of a sudden he had 4 other houses before mine and now his truck broke down and no one called to verify if their trailer would fit in my parking lot so they tried to say I would have to pay extra for a truck rental to get my belongings! Then they pushed the delivery another day ( I gave up on hearing the excuses by then). So still don't have my stuff. New Town,newjob, new apartment and no belongings. And they increased my square footage estimate, increasing my estimate to an amount I couldn't afford causing me to get rid of a lot of my things, then they didn't even use all the square footage they forced me to pay for after I was already into the contract. Not to mention non of the drivers/movers speak English. I feel scammed and taken advantage of, at a time where Iam extremely vulnerable. The experience was bad from beginning to.....it still hasn't ended. Now I have no belongings and no money to get temporary things. They couldn't have put me in a worse position when they were supposed to make the move easier and less for me to worry about. I'm starting to wonder if I have been scammed and if someone just stole all my belongings and savings.

My experience with Belmont Moving and their subcontractor Takoma Movers was horrible from start to finish.

The end price was 4x what I was quoted, with a clearly underestimated quote. People at both companies did not return phone calls, texts, or emails. Two people actually blocked my number immediately after my items were finally delievered. I received NO copies of any paperwork, even after repeated requests. I had to argue for 3.5 weeks to get a receipt- something that is a standard operating procedure for any business around the world. What I finally received was a picture of a previous bill with "paid in full, zero balance" hand written across it. Employees of Blemont were extremely rude and one refused to identify herself, even after repeated requests. My delivery time was not honored, and their story of what they were required to do with deliveries changed several times. I didn't have delivery of my items until after I filed a police report because they wouldn't tell me where my items were nor when they would be delivered. When they were delivered, it was at 9 p.m and it was dark, so it was impossible to see in the items in a dark storage unit. When I could see them, the boxes were smashed and damaged and MANY items were not included in my delivery that were on the inventory sheet, including a CA King Temperpedic bed (worth about $7,000.00). Of course, there is no information on how to file a claim for missing items and my attempts at contacting both companies have been met with silence.

I am filing a complaint with the Attorney General's office in CO, NM, WA, NY, and FL against both companies. I hope others do the same because the reviews all have similar experiences. Clearly the company doesn't care and doesn't change, so they need to be stopped.

It is hard to express how much I regret using Belmont. All of the horror stories are true. The booking process was seamless. They were responsive, gave me a great quote, and made me feel like I would be taken care of. This couldn't have been further from the truth. When the movers got there they claimed that the cubic footage of my belongings was nearly double what I'd been quoted. Of course, this is possible since the "binding estimate" provided by Belmont is binding on the COST PER CUBIC FOOT, NOT the volume. They do not stand by their volume estimate at all. Further, they matched me with a company who has an "F" rating with the better business bureau. This company, Moving Forward Express, arrived a day late, attempted to enforce terms that differed from those provided by Belmont, and failed to provide me with a legible contract, inventory, or bill of lading during the month they had my belongings (after being told it would typically come in 10-14 days). Throughout this, Belmont was extremely difficult to reach and noted there was nothing they could do without the bill of lading. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY or frankly any company whose estimate isn't truly binding. It will always be too good to be true.
